Kevin C. Phelan joined Fred A. Joshua P.C. as a Law Clerk in 2023 after completing law school, and has been practicing with the firm since his admission to the Illinois Bar.
In 2022, Kevin received his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. While in law school, Kevin received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award for his efforts in Family Law Drafting, and clerked for a large family-law firm in downtown Chicago where he acquired experience working with complex divorce and parentage matters. Kevin was also a member of the Trial Advocacy Program, Vice President of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund, and was a supervised student attorney for the University of Chicago-Illinois School of Law Fair Housing Clinic. His other experiences include internships with the Will County States' Attorney's Office and Cook County States Attorney's Office.
Kevin practices primarily in family and matrimonial law. He represents clients in a variety of complex domestic relations matters including divorce, paternity, allocation of parental responsibilities (formerly known as custody), parenting time (formerly known as visitation), spousal and child support, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and property distribution, and Hague Convention matters.
Kevin is a versatile attorney who provides his clients with a wide range of legal options for resolving their disputes. He possesses the skills required to provide the right means of solving the issues presented for each unique case whether it involves negotiation, mediation, or a contested evidentiary hearing.
In his free time, Kevin enjoys watching the White Sox, making music with his band, and going on long hikes with his beagle dog, Jack.
